Good deed repaid with theft
Lawrenceburg Now
A woman who did a good deed for an acquaintance was repaid by having items stolen from her home.
Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies spoke with a couple at their Cedar Hill Road home last week. They reported that a few days prior an acquaintance had called to ask the female victim to babysit so that the child’s mother would be able to go to work. She told deputies that she did so, and that when the mother came to pick up the child she brought a man along with her. She said that while she and the mother talked the man stayed in the kitchen area.
Once the couple had left, the male resident discovered that some of his belongings were missing. Items missing included a pair of Nike tennis shoes, Ariat boots, and a Black and Decker brand drill. The items had a combined value of nearly $500.
Presently, the case remains under investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
